Ecotone, Europe’s leading organic food producer, has announced the launch of Alter Eco chocolate into the UK to appeal to younger shoppers seeking great tasting, ethical and sustainable chocolate.
A key point of difference to many other brands in the category, the Alter Eco range is 100% organic, non-GMO, and Fairtrade certified – marrying quality, delicious chocolate with the highest credentials in ethics and sustainability.
Rolling into health food stores from September, the six-strong range of 100g tablet bars (RRP £2.99) features:
- Alter Eco Dark Chocolate, 85% Peru
- Alter Eco Dark Chocolate with Almonds
- Alter Eco Milk Chocolate Salted Caramel
- Alter Eco Plain Chocolate
- Alter Eco Dark Chocolate, 70% Ecuador
Each recipe blends ingredients of exceptional quality, sourced from small and local farming families who own their land. Each producer advocates crop rotation and compost, with a ban on GMOs and chemical fertilisers.
Dubbed the ‘cleanest, greenest chocolate’, Alter Eco is renowned for fiercely defending organic and family farming through ambitious and demanding fair trade.
Speaking about the company’s latest product expansion, Bryan Martins – Marketing and Category Director at Ecotone UK – says: “There’s no doubt that UK shoppers are focused on ethical products and empowered to make a difference with their purchases – this is particularly prevalent in the Chocolate sector. Alter Eco is perfectly positioned to deliver delicious taste with the organic and Fairtrade credentials consumers are looking for, from bean to bar.
“The brand has a unique story to tell. It is committed to forging strong bonds with its farmers and cooperatives – and has always upheld these values. Not only that, even its packaging is zero waste; every component can either be re-used, completely recycled, or composted back into the earth, leaving nothing to be thrown away. We’re proud to bring this range to the UK.”
Alter Eco’s move into the UK market is driven by Ecotone’s Food for Biodiversity mission. Both Alter Eco and Ecotone are B Corp certified. The company is committed to changing the industrial food system with sustainable and ethically produced organic, plant-based and Fairtrade products.
