Award-winning Cornish agency Kingdom & Sparrow have been working with 7-year old Launceston brewery, Firebrand Brewing Co., developing a fresh new look for their brand. The challenge was to transform them from a local brewery to Cornish craft experts.
Relaxed, outdoor gatherings have always been a big part of Firebrand – think smokey barbeques and camping adventures with family and friends. It quickly became clear to Kingdom & Sparrow that these are the experiences people wanted from progressive Cornish craft beer.
Inspired by the old milking parlour and Firebrand’s Cornish origins, the Kingdom & Sparrow team created a strong and versatile logo with a fire-breathing chough. They paired this with bold patterns inspired by 70s outdoor culture, going back to basics to evoke the simple experience of sitting outside, enjoying a beer with friends. The overall look and feel challenges the expectations of traditional Cornish beer, while capturing the laid-back, down-to-earth character of Firebrand.
Launching a rebrand during these strange times was always going to be a challenge, but Firebrand are already gaining traction! They’re doing a brilliant job of serving customers directly and spreading the word about their (delicious) Cornish beers.
Founder of Firebrand Brewing Co., Joe Thomson, has no doubt that Kingdom & Sparrow were the right choice. “Working with Kingdom and Sparrow is probably one of the best business decisions I’ve made so far. They took all of the small details behind Firebrand’s ethos and turned it into branding that stands strong against the best breweries in the country.
The feedback we’ve received regarding the branding from customers, pubs, retailers and distributors has been fantastic. Our future is looking brighter than ever thanks to the help from Kingdom and Sparrow.”
Having worked with other successful brands from the county like Curio and The Cornish Seaweed Co. as well as global companies like Young’s Brewery, Kingdom & Sparrow are putting Cornwall on the branding map – watch this space for further exciting projects from them this year.
