Lavazza presents “Amazonia – The Final Season“, the new docu-film dedicated to the Amazon Rainforest, available on Amazon Prime Video. Made in collaboration with We Are Social, “Amazonia – The Final Season” is an evocative tale of how water is able to continually change shape for the sake of the Forest: a poem made up of images, music and words, with which the artist and activist Ben Harper takes people on an intimate journey into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon and, at the same time, into everyone’s conscience.
“Amazonia – The Final Season” raises awareness of the fact that the time to save the Amazon Rainforest is running out and that urgent change is needed. And it is Water, the true protagonist, that teaches people that this is possible, through its unstoppable will to continuously transform itself to preserve the balance of the Forest.
Each of the three chapters is dedicated to a form that water takes during its natural cycle, becoming first a river, then clouds and finally rain. The images were shot in the Peruvian Amazon itself and they come to life through three different original pieces of music composed for this narration.
“My hopes for the Amazon rainforest are that we as the human species, the human race can do right by it and live long enough to, hopefully, restore the damage we’ve done.” These are the words of Ben Harper, one of the most appreciated and loved musicians and singers of the last years, which are at the same time a warning, but also an invitation for all people to change. The artist has been chosen not only for his strong personal commitment to raising awareness of the effects of the climate crisis, but also for a form of connection with water and with all that this natural element gives life to.
In particular, the docu-film “Amazonia – The Final Season” takes inspiration from the project that gave rise to Lavazza ¡Tierra! Organic For Amazonia, an organic coffee from Peru: here, in the Madre de Dios region, in the heart of the Amazonian forest, the Lavazza Foundation is committed in a reforestation program in collaboration with the Peruvian Ministry of the Environment, local and indigenous communities and Cesvi, a non-governmental organisation that has been active for over 20 years with specific projects in these areas.
To date, this activity has resulted in the preservation of more than 30,000 hectares of forests and four local communities, the reforestation of 295 hectares of land and the improvement of the food, social and economic conditions of 570 indigenous people.
“Amazonia – The Final Season” is available on Prime Video in Germany, in Italy, in France, and now the docu-film is also available on the platform in the United States.
