Gone are the days of McDonald’s red and yellow hard plastic seats. Well, for Hong Kong at least. This outlet’s design by Landini Associates as project ‘McDonald’s Next’ could be one of the brand’s most modern yet.
Using concrete, glass, stainless steel and oak, the fast food restaurant adopts a stylish and sleek façade with minimal artwork. The illustrations on the walls pay homage to the brand’s iconic products, including the simple cheeseburger.
Patrons can make their order with customizable options through touch-screen kiosks. Food is either picked up at the counter or brought to your table if the order is placed after 6pm.
Unlike traditional outlets where cooking is done behind-the-scenes, this McDonald’s has an open grill concept. Patrons also receive partial view of the kitchen via transparent red glass walls.
The McCafe section of the restaurant is integrated with a cold bar that serves salad, desserts and drinks. Other amenities include free WIFI and wireless charging at the tables.
