The UK’s no.1 coconut rum brand has launched a brand-new addition to its range – Malibu XO – the must have collector’s bottle. Normally the domain of dark spirits such as Cognac, the limited-edition XO has been aged inside coconuts for twelve years, giving the liquid an incredible depth of flavour.
Located in the depths of a vault, in a top-secret location, on an undisclosed Caribbean Island, and guarded by a team of security guards round the clock, the coconuts have been kept in a temperature-controlled environment and turned every hour. A liquid of the highest quality, Malibu XO has been freshly delivered to UK shores this week, from a secret ageing facility, and has been locked away in a safe, before being made available to buy today.
Mark-Francis Vandelli, best known for his witty one liners in TV’s Made in Chelsea, and aficionado of the finer things in life, was selected to be the first person in the UK to get his hands on a bottle of Malibu XO.
Mark-Francis said of the launch, “I am delighted to announce the launch of a much-anticipated product. A drink for only the finest of connoisseurs. A story so enchanting it appears entirely make-believe. Aged for twelve years in a temperature-controlled environment within coconut caskets, Malibu XO is the first and only liquor of its kind. No cellar will be complete without one.”
Rarer than a wet, cloudy day in Malibu, only 100 of the XO are available, and the exclusive liquid comes in a chic black bottle, nestled in a sleek gold collector’s box, accompanied by a certificate of ownership.
Marnie Corrigan, Brand Director at Pernod Ricard UK adds, “We’ve been working on this new expression behind the scenes for a while now and are thrilled to finally be able to announce the addition of XO to the Malibu family. As Chelsea royalty, we thought Mark-Francis was the natural choice to gift a bottle to, freshly delivered from the Caribbean, and we can’t wait for others to try it out. Whether you’re already a Malibu fan, or looking for something a little more luxe, Malibu XO is a deliciously decadent drink to savour this spring”.
