Leo Burnett UK has created an offbeat 60-second spot to promote McDonald’s beef burger, and to clarify the misconception that the fast food chain’s patties are riddled not only with additives, but also artificial flavouring.
The commercial initiates around a nine-and-a-quarter-year-old girl called ‘Laura’, who believes that the Golden Arches serves unhealthy beef patties.
In comes butcher Ted, who challenges this delusion by showing Laura and her mother, Beth, what makes an excellent McDonald’s beef patty.
The quirky spot, unlike commonplace fast food commercials, evokes American film director Wes Anderson’s narrative style.
