Southern Fried SPAM® – a new fritter variety launches

Iconic meat SPAM® continues to innovate the freezer aisle – this time with the launch of SPAM® Southern Fried Fritters. A slightly spicier twist on the classic SPAM® Fritter, which is now coated in a Southern Fried seasoning via a crispy and golden batter, the new frozen SPAM® Southern Fried Fritters can be oven baked straight from the freezer in just 15-20 minutes.

Jelsey Barnes, Commercial Sales Manager at Hormel Foods Corporation, commented: “This is a paring of two American classics that will offer UK SPAM® fans a unique twist on their favourite fritter. The Southern Fried seasoning complements SPAM® perfectly and makes a quick and easy meal, served with accompaniments such as potato wedges and a corn-on-the-cob.” 

SPAM® Fritters have always been fiddly to make straight from scratch and the convenient frozen Fritters range offers busy consumers the chance to enjoy them hassle-free. Jelsey is adamant that this new Southern Fried addition “will attract new customers to the brand, while also exciting SPAM®’s core consumers.”

The pack of four frozen SPAM® Southern Fried Fritters will retail for around £2.50 and makes its debut in Iceland stores across the UK from this month.
