McCain Foods launches revolutionary mashed potato

McCain Foods is set to revolutionise the use of mashed potato in foodservice with the launch of McCain Simply Potato for Mash from September 2012, enabling caterers to deliver a consistently delicious, creamy and fluffy mash, in just 15 minutes*, with no waste, saving time and therefore money.

McCain Simply Potato for Mash has been launched following extensive research by McCain, among foodservice operators and consumers, which identified a gap in the market for a quick and easy to prepare mash that delivers a quality potato taste and texture on a consistent basis, year round, without the need for labour intensive prep and waste.

A mixed skills catering team can prepare McCain Simply Potato for Mash in just 15 minutes, saving up to 30 minutes per serving over fresh potatoes. There are also other savings to be made as up to 30% of ware (fresh) potatoes can be wasted through peeling and defect removal. With seasonal variations in potato quality this can rise still further.

Made with quality potato, blanched and frozen, with no additives or preservatives, McCain Simply Potato for Mash meets strict nutrition targets for school caterers. And because it’s unseasoned, it can be customised, helping caterers to deliver a mash to meet customer demand, whether that is healthy or luxury.

McCain Simply Potato for Mash also gains weight during the cooking process, through water absorption which increases the light fluffy texture, offering even greater value for time and cost-pressured caterers.
