MORE than a hundred exclusive VIPs celebrated the launch of Nottingham’s newest and eagerly anticipated restaurant (Wednesday 17 August), when Bar Iberico opened its doors for the first time.

Guests to the Spanish tapas bar on Carlton Street in Hockley enjoyed a sneak peek of Bar Iberico, before being treated to a selection of wine and delicious tapas from the brand new menu.

Officially opening to the public on 22 August, Bar Iberico will be run by Provenance Tapas – the brand behind the award-winning Iberico World Tapas restaurants in Nottingham and Derby and the fine dining restaurant, World Service.

Director, Dan Lindsay for Provenance Tapas said: “It was great to see so many people turn out to support Provenance Tapas and our latest venture. The evening was a huge success and was enjoyed by everyone.

“We wanted to show our guests what they can expect from Bar Iberico – delicious food served in a relaxing atmosphere. Hockley is a fantastic location with a thriving restaurant culture and the new restaurant will provide a different experience for those who love Iberico and tapas.”

With the new restaurant opening next week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a brand-new menu, including flatbreads, tortilla and charcuteries has been created.

Executive chef and co-owner Jacque Ferreria has developed menus for Iberico World Tapas in Nottingham and Derby. However, he wanted the new menu to be entirely different by incorporating the simple, laid back experience of Bar Iberico.

He said: “Having opened and worked in the kitchens of Iberico Tapas over the last decade, we have learnt so much about what works for us and our customers. We think we have a great understanding of what people love and come back for time and time again.

“With Iberico Tapas and Bar Iberico being in such close proximity to each other, it was key to develop a menu that was just as interesting and tasty but which also had a completely different feel to it. The ethos is top quality ingredients treated simply and presented in such a way that a relaxed atmosphere will be created among diners.

“We hope that the new menu will please even the most die-hard of Iberico Tapas’ regular customers.”

Iberico World Tapas was recently awarded a Bib Gourmand in the 2016 Michelin Guide and is currently the only Nottingham restaurant to have received the prestigious accolade. Its sister restaurant in Derby also received the title in 2014 just nine months after opening.
