Outback Steakhouse is petitioning for a “Steakhouse Summit,” by extending an invitation to the nation’s leaders. The dinner table is the place for American families to connect and solve problems, so perhaps it’ll work for the government.
Outback Steakhouse is reserving a table for four at 4821 North First Street in Arlington, located eight miles from the U.S. Capitol, until the shutdown ends. The table will be waiting for the leaders to come in and enjoy a steak together; because there’s nothing you can’t work out over a delicious steak.
Invitations have been extended to President Obama, Speaker John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to come together on neutral ground (Aussie ground, to be exact). Outback is opening its dining room and offering dinner for key leaders in the hope that a change of venue will bring a change in the grid-lock.
“What can’t be solved when you table up to a steak dinner?” asked Mike Kappitt, Outback Steakhouse Chief Marketing Officer. “We’ve got a table roped off and a steak dinner ready to roll whenever our leaders are ready to sit down to dinner.”
