The quest for Middle-earth inspired adventure begins at Denny’s, as America’s Diner celebrates the long-awaited release of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM). A bold new menu features seven authentic dishes inspired by “The Hobbit” films and a bounty of exclusive movie content available only in-restaurant.
For a great start or finish to any meal try the new Bard’s Pumpkin Pie Milk Shake or Elven Woodland Pies in pumpkin and pecan flavors, for just $2 a slice from Denny’s 2,4,6,8 Value Menu. Festive favorites such as Radagast’s Red Velvet Pancake Puppies offer a true taste of the holidays, while a freshly brewed cup of new Bowman’s Brew Pumpkin Coffee or Denny’s Signature Diner Roast in rich vanilla or toasty hazelnut flavors offers the perfect complement to any tasty journey.
“We’re thrilled to bring the taste of Middle-earth back to America’s Diner,” said John Dillon (@DillonJohnW), vice president of marketing for Denny’s. “Last year’s menu attracted both Denny’s guests and fans alike with a combination of movie-inspired elements and traditional holiday flavors. This year we’re elevating the experience with the introduction of adventurous new flavors, exciting exclusive content and once-in-a-lifetime prizes, taking our guests on a truly authentic dining journey.”
The epic adventure doesn’t stop there; an augmented reality interactive placemat features movie images and concept art, an exclusive behind-the-scenes film content piece and a sneak peek at the making of Denny’s movie-themed TV spot.
Ensuring this adventure would be authentic to true fans, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” Advisory Board, an exclusive group of influential “The Hobbit” movies-oriented media outlets, curated by Denny’s, weighed in on select movie-inspired elements, including the development of menu names and selection of the top five entries from “The Search for Middle-earth’s Greatest Fan” video contest.
One grand prize winner will be selected by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson to receive a trip for two to attend the film’s world premiere screening. Four runner-ups will receive free Denny’s Grand Slam’s for one full year.
Denny’s website and social channels will continue the journey with a variety of film-inspired games, activities and a series of “Elvish Made Easy” social posts showing fans how to perfect the Elvish language. “The Hobbit” movie fans should also be on the lookout for the chance to win exclusive “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” gold coins, which will be up for grabs on Denny’s social channels.
Launched nationwide, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” menu is available all day, every day with prices starting at just $5.99; the menu includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and late-night items.
