March 2016 saw West Cornwall Pasty Co launch a new concept store, West Cornwall Food Co on Canterbury’s High Street. Now, after outstanding results the brand’s second West Cornwall Food Co opens in Chichester.
A report released on August 5 shows that sales in Canterbury have risen to 50% up on 2015 proving the appetite for innovation struck the right chord with the brand’s ever increasing demographic.
Everyday Concept
The store in Canterbury was designed to trial a new ‘Everyday’ concept which revolved around St Just – the brand’s own organic fair-trade coffee range. In addition, a new range of freshly made sandwiches was introduced, a first for the brand alongside a new range of cakes, doughnuts and cookies.
The multi-award winning, handmade PGI status Cornish pasties that parent brand West Cornwall Pasty Co is world famous for also play a starring role.
The recently launched ‘Everybody Pasty’ the acclaimed Gluten and Dairy free pasty sits alongside the brand’s key best sellers, with a newly introduced store hotline to pre-order to keep up with demand.
Executive Chairman for WCPCo Chris Peck comments, “The results of West Cornwall Food Co in Canterbury speak for themselves, it was an important High Street test site for us which has proven from the start that the formula works, we are planning a roll out across select UK High Street over the coming months.”
Location Matters
Adapting and innovating alongside changes on the High Street has meant WCFCo has taken advantage of prime positioning, but importantly has evolved to major on store design.
An interior and exterior overhaul makes the most of existing original features using heritage materials and fabrics to remind customers of the brand’s strong Cornish heritage and commitment to provenance matched with quality and value.
Special emphasis has been made to ensure both the interior and exterior are aesthetically pleasing, friendly, welcoming and focus on ease of service and outstanding product.
Chris Peck continues, “The friendly local shop feel and approachable nature of both our shops in Canterbury and Chichester allows us a fantastic opportunity to reach out to the High Street and meet everyday customers needs with our comfortable seating areas as well as our fast and efficient take-out service for those on the go.”
