For the newest limited edition release of Tanqueray, the juniper-forward Tanqueray Bloomsbury gin, Master Distiller Tom Nichol drew inspiration from a recipe created by Charles Tanqueray’s son, Charles Waugh Tanqueray.
In 1868, when Charles died, his son Charles Waugh Tanqueray took over his business. He was only 20 years at the time, but was a brilliant businessman and innovator just like his father. His original recipe on which Tanqueray Bloomsbury was based dates back to around 1880, when the distillery was located in Bloomsbury, England.
Featuring prominent notes of Tuscan juniper along with additional botanicals including coriander, angelica, winter savoury and cassia bark, the new Tanqueray Bloomsbury gin will launch into the on-trade with limited availability at specialty retailers in the US. The launch of Tanqueray Bloomsbury follows the successful release of Tanqueray Old Tom in 2014 and Tanqueray Malacca in 2013.
“I wanted to make something that was completely different from our other limited editions and with this gin I do feel we have achieved that. It is very inspirational to work with an original Tanqueray family recipe, and for it to taste this good,” said Tanqueray Master Distiller Tom Nichol.
Cocktails made with care and high-quality ingredients like Tanqueray Bloomsbury encourage sipping slowly and savoring responsibly. Gin adorers will be able to try Tanqueray Bloomsbury cocktails at top bars globally, and experiment at home by purchasing the new bottle at specialty retailers. The bottle pack will also feature a signature and a marque with the initials of Charles Waugh Tanqueray on each label.
Availability begins July 2015, with 100,000 bottles available at an SRP of $32.99.
