DesignLSM were approached by Dukes Hotel to redesign the interior of their existing breakfast room and restaurant; helping to transform the space into a ‘destinational’ offering for guests.
GBR also known as – ‘The Great British Restaurant’ offers quintessential British fare with a curated menu by executive chef Nigel Mendham. DesignLSM’s brief was to create a refined and luxurious environment to suit an all-day dining experience as well as reflecting the exemplary level of service and quality that the hotel is famed for.
“The refurbishment involved removing the corridor wall from the existing PJ lounge bar to open up the original smaller rooms, creating a spacious and inviting restaurant space. Our designers utilised a rich and opulent material palette with acute attention to detail and beautiful craftsmanship, which reflects Duke’s sophisticated persona,” revealed the design agency in their release.
A decadent aged brass cocktail bar provides a focal point in the space, which pays homage to the hotel’s roots as the birthplace of the ‘shaken not stirred’ Martini. Rich navy upholstered bar stools are perfectly positioned around the bar enticing guests in for pre-dinner cocktails.
The private dining area has been designed with intimate shutter screens and brass clad cabinetry, which showcase the fine selection of wines. A reclaimed parquet floor in warm honey tones features throughout the restaurant complimented by striking double globe wall lights, which emit sumptuous warmth into the space.
The stunning array of antique mirrors enhance the lightness and sense of volume within the space. Emotive black and white vintage reportage photography lines the walls of the restaurant providing a subtle nod to the glamorous history of the hotel and its high profile guests.
The overall scheme radiates the understated elegance and charm of the iconic Dukes Hotel whilst evolving the space to create a distinctive identity of its own.
