Sipsmith, the London gin brand, is reviving its rooftop hot gin activation with an experience featuring a historical bar tool to heat the cocktails.
The “Hot Gin Roof” event will give guests an insight into hot gin history. Each Sipsmith cocktail will be “poked” in front of customers which will heat it instantly to caramelise the sugars.
The idea is based on how gin was historically sipped hot, with the drink heated using a poker taken straight from the fire.
Sipsmith master distiller Jared Brown said: “At Sipsmith we have always had deep reverence for the past, centred on London’s gin heritage. I’ve been exploring history for inspiration and we can’t wait to see the reaction on our guest’s faces when they witness the art, theatre and flavour that can be achieved when heating drinks with hot fire pokers.”
The activation runs for a month starting from January 17 at the Ham Yard Hotel in Soho.
