With the craft beverage industry on a stellar rise in recent years, Blue Ridge Community College’s decision to launch a two-year degree program in “Brewing, Distillation and Fermentation” last year seems to make a lot of sense.
The program aims to produce a ready pool of skilled workers for the rapidly growing craft beer industry—according to the Colorado-based Brewers Association, it is worth more than $10 billion dollars and has experienced the biggest surge since the end of the Prohibition with about 400 new breweries opening in 2012.
In addition to the basics and science of brewing, students would also be equipped with important knowledge that would enable them to not only manufacture the product, but also package and market it when it is ready.
Beer enthusiasts who are looking to turn their hobby into a career should consider signing up for this program—find out more about it over here.
