BRAZILIAN SODA GUARANÁ ANTARCTICA CREATES AN ORIGINAL RECIPE, SERVED IN PORTUGAL, BY FUSING TWO CLASSIC FOODS (BOTH WITH THE SAME NAME) FROM EACH COUNTRY

Brazilian pastel on the outside. Portuguese Pastel on the inside

If you’ve been to Portugal, you’ll very likely have tried the world-famous egg-custard pastry ‘Pastel de Belém’, also known as ‘Pastel de Natas.’ If you´ve been to Brazil, you’ll very likely have tried Guaraná Antarctica, Brazil’s very own, original soda, and one of the most beloved Brazilian brands worldwide.

What you might not be aware of is that there’s also a Brazilian ‘pastel’, a renowned street-food item that shares the same name as the Portuguese pastry ‘Pastel de Feira’. And, it pairs exceptionally well with Guaraná.

When Guaraná decided to promote its brand in Portugal, Beta Collective came up with a simple yet delightful challenge: combining the yumminess of both ‘pastels’ into one.

Teaming up with Portuguese agency Adagietto, they enlisted the help of renowned Brazilian-Portuguese chef Kiko to bring this unique recipe to life. The result? A mouthwatering fusion of the Brazilian pastel on the outside with the Portuguese pastel on the inside.

The uniquely original recipe from Guaraná Antarctica celebrates cultural and culinary diversity. “Guaraná has this contagious energy and spirit. We created this recipe to spread the message of the celebration of the union between these two nations,” emphasizes Bernardo Tavares, Executive Creative Director of Beta Collective.

The dish will be available for one month at the ‘O Boteco’ restaurant, led by the chef Kiko, in Lisbon. The recipe video developed by the Chef is available on his Instagram account.
