CAMUS Unveils Exclusive Borderies Range

HTFile.ashxFor more than 150 years, CAMUS has nurtured a lasting bond with the Borderies, the smallest and rarest cru in the Cognac AOC. This bond – strengthened by the gradual acquisition of plots by each of the five generations of the Family – has succeeded in making the House of CAMUS one of the largest landowners in the Borderies cru, with over 180 hectares of Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche vineyards.

In 2000, the House premiered with the first ever 100% Borderies XO Cognac which met with tremendous success. Carefully aged in oak, this Cognac offers a rich and complex palette of aromas which reveals fruity, spicy and gourmet notes, before evolving into a rare, long-lasting floral finish. Only a craftsman’s secrets – passed on through five generations of the same family – can guarantee a Cognac of such exceptional quality.

In line with this quest for excellence and innovation, since 2012 the Borderies VSOP is a unique expression that enhances the lively, mineral and gourmet style of the Borderies cru. Every year, a new batch of this VSOP is released in numbered bottles. The 2015 Edition unveils this year fresh and tasty notes of vanilla pods and orange peel, within a whisper of sweet and floral spice.

Last of all, Rarissimes Borderies 2004 is the result of the Cellar Master’s bold aim to offer the only Borderies vintage on the market. The exceptional weather conditions that year meant that harvesting was done at the best possible moment, capturing all the aroma, finesse, balance and personality of a 100% Ugni Blanc wine distilled on fine lees.

The discreet minerality, the enthusiasm of its powerful aromas and the magnetic charm of its character – subtle and yet captivating – convinced the CAMUS tasting committee, which naturally chose to add this vintage to the range.
