DALLAS – (December 3, 2012)Red Mango, the 2011 #1 Zagat-rated frozen yogurt and smoothies chain in America, has announced it is expanding to Uruguay, one of the world’s great capital cities, and will open the first Red Mango location in Montevideo on Dec. 19th. The growth is part of a five-store agreement with area developer Zacoxen, S.A., and marks the first introduction of Red Mango in South America.

“Our entry into South America welcomes a new chapter in the rapid expansion of our brand,” said Miguel Foegal, president of Red Mango. “We are taking Red Mango to an exciting region that is ripe with opportunity.”

Zacoxen, an experienced area developer in Uruguay that operates several Curves fitness franchise locations, was instantly drawn to the essence of the Red Mango brand and the healthy aspect of the award-winning menu.

Paula Lopez, managing partner for Zacoxen and a resident in Montevideo runs the business with her husband Daniel Soroa and her sisters Pamela and Patricia Lopez. They were looking for the next successful investment when Patricia Lopez, who works in New York, introduced them to the concept that had begun adding locations throughout the city and across the United States to crowds of happy consumers.

“One taste and we were convinced we had to bring Red Mango to Uruguay,” said Paula Lopez.

The first of four self-serve locations in Montevideo will open this month at Local 001.18 de Julio 1902 and Juan Antonio Rodriguez. An additional store is planned for the world-famous Punta del Este resort city.
