Steak ‘n Shake is inviting America to a birthday party for the record books on Saturday, June 7, when it will celebrate its 80th birthday by attempting the Guinness World Records title for the “Largest Birthday Sing-Along.” Steak ‘n Shake expects more than 20,000 customers to sing “Happy Birthday” simultaneously across its 529 U.S. locations.
As they participate in the Guinness World Records attempt, guests can enjoy Steak ‘n Shake’s new Birthday Cake Milk Shake for half price. The limited-time-only shake is filled with moist, yellow birthday cake and sweet buttercream frosting and topped with festive sprinkles.
An 80th birthday deserves a summer-long celebration, and Steak ‘n Shake guests can keep the party going with a variety of promotions, including:
- Special Edition 80th Birthday Hat: Everyone knows and loves the classic Steak ‘n Shake paper hats, and for a limited time, Steak ‘n Shake is featuring a Special 80th Birthday hat for customers.

“When Gus Belt opened his first restaurant in 1934, he had a simple goal of serving guests the freshest and most delicious burgers and shakes in the country,” said Jim Flaniken, Senior Vice President, Marketing. “Today, Steak ‘n Shake is a global brand with more than 500 locations, and we couldn’t have done it without the loyalty of our incredible guests. The record attempt is a fun way to celebrate this milestone, and we couldn’t think of a better way to show appreciation for our customers than with a Birthday Cake Milk Shake.”
