Wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy a warm cup of your favorite coffee on your commute? Coffee giant Starbucks has made this possible in Switzerland, by collaborating with Swiss train company SBB to convert a train into a mobile Starbucks store.
This is the first time Starbucks has tried out this concept—the double-decker car runs from Geneva Airport to St Gallen, and seats 50 commuters at once. It was designed to be cozy, with a ‘bar’ area on the lower floor for one-stop commuters, and more comfortable seating on the upper deck for those traveling longer distances.
The car is stylishly furnished, with a carpeted floor, textured wood tables and stools, and leather chairs. What’s more, a waiter delivers customers’ orders to the upper deck for their convenience.
“Our stores are made not just to have a wonderful drink, but to connect and have a wonderful experience. We wanted to make sure it feels like a club and that you could see a person across the room, so the train feels more spacious,” said Liz Muller, director of concept design for Starbucks.
