BOUNDLESS BRAND DESIGN UNVEILS THE THIRD AND FINAL CHAPTER IN ROYAL SALUTE’S KINGDOM COLLECTION

“A Journey Into Portugal’s Enchanted Valley”

Boundless Brand Design unveil the third and final edition of Royal Salute’s celebrated Kingdom Collection – a 26-year-old expression finished in Colheita port casks. Building on our long-standing creative partnership, this design continues the series’ mission to celebrate global cultures through richly layered whisky storytelling.

Following the success of the previous editions, this latest limited edition release transports luxury consumers to Portugal. The whisky has been expertly finished in Colheita port casks, delivering gentle sweetness, smoky depth and layered complexity. Our challenge was to hero this unique liquid story while maintaining the collection’s signature sense of discovery and narrative richness.

Honouring the Heart of Portugal: The Douro Valley

The design was inspired by the Douro Valley – known as the enchanted valley – a region celebrated for its terraced vineyards, traditional rabelo boats, and deep-rooted port wine craftsmanship. Rather than rely on broad cultural motifs, we sought to reflect genuine knowledge of Portugal’s heritage, creating a design that resonates with those familiar with the region and intrigues those encountering it for the first time.

Crafted Details that Invite Exploration

The design is layered with meaningful symbolism. The central diamond is framed by Porto flags and guarded by two of Portugal’s iconic creatures: the Rooster of Barcelos and the Iberian lynx. Intricate embellishments inspired by azulejo tiles enrich the storytelling, while lavender and camellias nod both to the local landscape and the whisky’s delicate floral notes.

Crucially, the liquid’s craft narrative flows throughout. Illustrations of rabelo boats – once essential for transporting port wine barrels – sit alongside subtle references to grape stomping and the cask-aging traditions that give this edition its distinctive character.

Continuing a Tradition of Cultural Depth

This Portugal edition strengthens the Kingdom Collection’s reputation as one of the category’s most culturally sophisticated and visually immersive whisky series. It also reinforces Boundless Brand Design’s ongoing role in shaping the evolving aesthetic and storytelling of the collection.
