As the official beer sponsor of the NFL, Bud Light aims to help make The Big Game one of the safest yet through the launch of a powerful new campaign that inspires fans to “Stay in the Game.” Bud Light is launching the “Stay in the Game. Drink Responsibly.” platform through an integrated campaign that utilizes exclusive partnerships and safe-ride solutions to help fans make smart choices during Super Bowl XLVIII.
“At Bud Light, we take pride in being a leader in encouraging consumers to drink responsibly,” said Rob McCarthy, vice president, Bud Light. “‘Stay in the Game’ is designed to connect with and inspire fans to make smart decisions on Super Bowl Sunday.”
The brand is aligning with NFL legend Bruce Smith for the campaign to help spread the word about ways to stay safe during Super Bowl XLVIII.
Smith, who was pulled over for driving under the influence in 2009, recounts his personal story through a public service announcement (PSA) that intimately asks fans to “Stay In the Game” and drink responsibly by having a safe ride home after the game.
“No matter what team you’re cheering for, the Super Bowl is a day to celebrate the game of football with family and friends,” commented Smith. “There are many consequences with drunk driving – you can injure yourself or impact the lives of innocent people around you. I’m fortunate to partner with the Bud Light team and share my personal story so others can learn from my experience.”
Smith’s 60-second PSA can be viewed by adults 21 and older on Bud Light’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Bruce will also participate in a responsibility press conference at the Bud Light Hotel on Wednesday, January 29, at 3:30 p.m. ET to further lend his voice to this important topic.
Bud Light is also encouraging fans to “Stay in the Game” with a game-day plan in advance of their Super Bowl festivities by providing adults with a reliable way to travel during the weekend of the big game.
The brand has partnered with Uber – the on-demand transportation app – to help provide new and existing users with safe rides. Bud Light will provide fans 21 and older in select markets a safe way to travel by distributing promotional codes at random to new and existing users of the service.
In honor of Super Bowl XLVIII, adults can visit the Bud Light Facebook page for 48 hours between Wednesday, January 29, and Friday, January 31, for a chance to receive one of 4,800 promotional codes for a $25 credit to their Uber account that can be applied toward their Super Bowl plans.
In addition, Bud Light will also provide all guests of Bud Light Hotel reduced rates for Uber rides to and from their destinations during Super Bowl week in Manhattan. Five Bud Light-branded Uber SUVs will be stationed outside the hotel for private use, and Uber gift cards will also be given away nightly at Bud Light Hotel concerts.
