BEPPS launches new Salt & Vinegar variant, improved recipes and freshly formulated flavours

BEPPS, the UK’s first range of black eyed pea snacks, announced the launch of a new Salt & Vinegar variant, along with a re-formulated product, fresh flavour profiles and new look packaging across the full range.

With its continued focus on traditional, consumer loved ‘crisp’ flavours, new variant, Salt & Vinegar, was a natural product progression for the brand. It offers a sharp, tangy taste profile and will launch nationwide, along with the full new and improved range, from 11th November into 476 Tesco stores.

On a mission to innovate the healthy snacking category, BEPPS are 100% natural, vegan friendly, gluten free, packed with protein and contain no artificial additives or preservatives.

The new and improved recipes not only feature punchier flavours, but a reformulated puff which is now 100% pea based. The combination of nutrient-dense, Black Eyed Peas and Fava Beans, makes the puffs naturally richer in Vitamin A and Calcium and also lower in fat and calories and higher in fibre.

In addition, BEPPS is sporting a fresh new front of pack. As BEPPS grows it will focus on representing a variety of peas, pulses & grains, whilst hero’ing the Black Eyed Pea ingredient story, so the pea illustration has been moved back of pack, with the front of pack illustrations celebrating the West African heritage and inspiration. The puffs have also been brought front and centre and the use of two colourways is designed to create greater stand out on shelf.

The range now has the additional benefit of being zero VAT which allows for a more accessible price point in a competitive category. 22g singles are £0.89p and 70g at £1.79.

Eve Yankah, Founder says: “We’re really excited to be launching the newly formulated range and can’t wait to see it hitting the shelves later this month. The new Salt & Vinegar flavour packs a real punch, and we think this fresh twist on a flavour favourite will help the brand appeal to a more mainstream audience. Black eyed peas will always be our ‘hero’ ingredient, but as our product portfolio grows, you will see us mixing in other grains, peas and pulses into our impulse snack range starting with the puffs which now include Fava Beans. Watch this space!”

BEPPS is the creation of entrepreneur, Eve Yankah, a 31 year old mum of two young children, who grew up eating black-eyed peas as part of her daily diet. Her lightbulb moment came when she needed a nutritious and tasty snack for her daughter Gigi, a typically picky eater. Unable to find anything on the market, Eve thought about using black-eyed peas, her own childhood staple at home; to create deliciously moreish puffs that her whole family now enjoys.

Available from Tesco, BEPPS 70g sharing bags (RRP: £1.79) and 22g packs (RRP: £0.89) will be available nationwide from 11th November.
