BIONA ORGANIC EXPANDS INTO READY MEALS WITH INNOVATIVE NEW RANGE FOR 2026

Biona Organic, the UK’s leading organic food brand, is expanding its product portfolio in 2026 with the launch of two new ranges spanning organic ready meals and breakfast cereals – both designed to meet growing demand for minimally processed, nutritious alternatives to convenience foods.

Biona‘s new ranges offer:

  • Ready meals that replace frozen or chilled UPF options with visible, whole ingredients
  • Breakfast cereals containing just one or two organic ingredients and that eliminate unnecessary additives and refined sugars

READY MEALS: WORLD BEAN MEALS

Biona has entered the ready meals category for the first time with its new organic World Bean Meals – a trio of heat-and-eat jarred dishes inspired by global cuisines and designed for the growing number of flexitarians, plant-curious shoppers, and busy families seeking quick, nutritious meat-free options.

The range comprises:

  • Bean Chilli Mexican Style (RRP £3.49)
  • Chickpea Coconut Curry Indian Style (RRP £3.49)
  • Chickpea Tagine Moroccan Style (RRP £3.49)

Each meal is naturally plant-based, high in fibre, and delivers up to 18g of plant protein per jar – equivalent to three eggs. Crucially, the recipes contain no added sugar, no preservatives, and no artificial additives, offering consumers a genuinely clean-label ready meal option.

The premium glass jar format eliminates plastic packaging whilst showcasing the visible, wholefood ingredients inside – addressing consumer desire for transparency and sustainability. The jars are fully recyclable and designed for kitchen shelf appeal.

Noel McDonald, founder of Biona Organic, said: “The ready meals category has traditionally been dominated by heavily processed options laden with additives and hidden ingredients. We saw an opportunity to offer something genuinely different – authentic delicious global recipes made with organic pulses, vegetables, and aromatic spices that you can see through the jar. These are meals you could make at home if you had the time, but we’ve done the work for you without compromising on quality or nutrition.”

BREAKFAST CEREALS: SPELT PUFFS

Biona is revolutionising the breakfast cereal with three new exceptionally simple Spelt cereal variants. In a category where conventional cereals often contain 15-20 ingredients including refined sugars, artificial flavours, and preservatives, Biona‘s new spelt cereals offer minimal ingredients and nutritional integrity.

The new range comprises:

  • Organic Spelt Puffs RRP £2.69
    • Containing just one ingredient, this cereal is made of 100% whole organic puffed spelt that’s air-puffed, naturally high in fibre and wholegrain, with no added sugar, salt or flavourings. It’s a light, crunchy and nourishing breakfast option that’s suitable for the whole family.
  • Organic Honey Spelt Puffs RRP £3.49
    • Containing just two ingredients – organic puffed spelt and organic honey – these puffs bring together natural sweetness, fibre and crunch.
  • Organic Crispy Spelt flakes RRP £3.29
    • Made from 100% whole organic spelt and nothing else, this breakfast cereal is naturally rich in fibre and wholegrain goodness and can be paired with sweet or savoury toppings.

Spelt is an ancient grain naturally higher in protein and fibre than modern wheat, with a subtle nutty flavour that appeals to both adults and children. The puffing process creates a light, crispy texture without added fats or oils. The cereal is suitable for the whole family, from toddlers to adults, and works equally well with milk, yoghurt, as a topping for smoothie bowls, or as a lunchbox snack.

Noel McDonald, continued: “Parents are increasingly scrutinising cereal boxes and questioning why their children’s breakfast needs maltodextrin, flavourings, and multiple types of sugar. Our Spelt Puffs prove you don’t need any of that. One ingredient – or two if you want a touch of natural sweetness – delivers a delicious, nutritious cereal that parents can feel confident about serving every morning.”
