London’s iconic Borough Market is releasing a limited run of its first ever Borough Market Gin in time for the festive season. But with under 1,000 bottles being produced, you’ll have to be quick to snap up a bottle.
The gin is a collaboration with East London Liquor Company, one of the many traders of high-quality produce at the world-renowned food and drink market. Whilst Borough Market can claim over 1,000 years of history, East London Liquor Company is a relative new kid on the block, bringing the spirits industry back to its roots after setting up as the first whisky, gin and vodka distillery in East London for over 100 years.
The Borough Market Gin has a distinctive herbaceous and savoury profile. Distilled from 100% British wheat spirit and infused with juniper berries, coriander seeds, orris root, angelica root, lemon peel, thyme, winter savoury, fennel seeds, sage, bay leaf and lavender, East London Liquor Company had a typical English herb garden in mind when creating the recipe – perfect served in a negroni or wet martini.
From the first week in December, the limited edition of 1,000 bottles will be available exclusively from Borough Market’s Information Office, priced at £32.99, alongside other Borough Market branded items. These include aprons, jute bags and this year’s bestselling Borough Market Cookbook authored by Ed Smith, which celebrates recipes and stories from a year at the Market.
Darren Henaghan, Managing Director, Borough Market said: “Borough Market has long been home to an incredible range of traders who are committed to providing the best quality food and drink. We are very excited about this collaboration with East London Liquor Company to release our first Borough Market Gin. It’s a great way to celebrate the fantastic produce from one of traders, as well as reflecting the wonderful aromas and flavours that can be found at the Market. We hope our visitors will enjoy the drink in the upcoming festive period!”
Alex Wolpert, East London Liquor Company Founder, said: “For the past three years we’ve found our second home at Borough Market, surrounded by enthusiastic neighbours as equally passionate about the quality and provenance of local food and drink as we are. The release of Borough Market Gin is a celebration of our ongoing commitment to the good things in life.”
