On 18 December 2013, it was cold, dark and dreary in Uppsala, Sweden—with 185 days to go before mid-summer day comes around, Coca-Cola decided to spread a little summer cheer with a special vending machine, which is dubbed “The Happiness Machine”.
Installed at a bus stop, this machine would turn itself on and light up to attract the attention of people around it—when someone buys a Coke from it, a background projection would be activated and start screening images of joyful summer scenes.
While this does not make the day any warmer or brighter outside of the bus stop, it did seem to delight the commuters who had the chance to interact with this Happiness Machine.
