Fast food chain Pret a Manger is putting a new spin on its policy of allowing staff to give some customers free coffee.
From January 18 staff will, instead of distributing instant karma, put a special sleeve (pictured) on some cups that entitle someone to claim a free coffee or tea.
Pret has branded the initiative as ‘Make Someone Smile’ and is encouraging recipients of the sleeves to pass them on to someone else and make their day.
It will hand out 120,000 of the sleeves and the last date on which they can be used will be 28 February.
Clive Schlee, Pret CEO, said: “We often get feedback from customers about how our shop teams have brightened up their day. Our teams love being able to make customers smile, and we hope the recipients of our special coffee sleeves enjoy being able to pass that joy onto somebody else themselves.”
