The Whisky Shop has launched a new store in Paris, with interiors designed by international design agency gpstudio.
The store is located in Place de la Madeleine, one of Paris’ most stylish shopping areas, in a building dating back to to the late 1800s.
gpstudio’s conceptual idea for the interior architecture of the Paris store was to strip back and highlight the traditional features of the historic building, whilst incorporating modern fixtures and design – creating a luxurious yet contemporary feel.
Quality materials such as timber and brass were used throughout the fit-out with the ornate, original staircase refurbished to its former glory.
The new store hosts an exlcusive premium space, or salon privé, hosted by Diageo on the upper floor. This exclusive area will be dedicated to one of the world’s best-selling whisky brands, Johnnie Walker. In the salon privé, guests can enjoy Johnnie Walker and, should they wish, even have their bottles given a bespoke engraving while they relax in the luxurious surroundings.
The main selling space is located on the ground floor where an array of the finest luxury brands are on offer. The rear of the space is home to the Angel’s Room, an intimate chamber lit by LED wings and inspired by the legendary tale of the Angel’s Share in every barrel of whisky. The space is avilable for brands to host events such as Master Distiller tastings and talks.
The Paris store is the nineteenth in The Whisky Shop’s portfolio. gpstudio also designed The Whisky Shop’s London and Manchester stores, as well as wider brand strategy and product launches for the retailer.
Ian Bankier, Chairman, The Whisky Shop, said: “We are so pleased with how our Paris store has turned out. gpstudio designed a store that perfectly encapsulates The Whisky Shop brand. It is a space our customers will love to luxuriate in.”
Gregor Jackson, Partner gpstudio, said: “We’re immensely proud of the Whisky Shop in Paris. It’s a complex historic site, but the result respects the original architecture and juxtaposes modern furniture to showcase a world class range of whiskies.”
