Butterfly Cannon serves up a delicious design for Divine Chocolate’s new Dessert Bar range

For over 25 years, Divine has been doing things differently in the chocolate industry, being the only farmer-owned Fairtrade chocolate maker in the world. This new release keeps that ethos alive.

Our delicious quest was to bring together their much-loved chocolate with the nation’s favourite desserts, in a new range of decadent chocolate bars, perfect for sharing. These new desserts on the block tap into the ‘pudding effect’, where consumers are turning to small, sweet treats to brighten their everyday.

Our first task (or treat) was to immerse ourselves in the lavish and nostalgic world of desserts – through cookery books, luxury foodstuffs and restaurant menus. Putting our own delicious twist on this rich inspiration, our design intention was ‘Divine but more’, bringing out the indulgent side of the brand for this premium offering and incapsulating the creative platform – ’Do Dessert Differently’.

The packaging centres around the distinctive bold wordmark ‘The Dessert Bar,’ emphasising the product’s unique offer. The gold foil, micro-embossed line work within the wordmark lettering mirrors the distinguishing grooves found in the chocolate. Together with its more refined colour palette, the range is elevated from the standard Divine offering and aligns with the delightfully indulgent occasion.

For recognition, the Divine wordmark is heroed at the top of the pack, supported by their “Co-owned by Cocoa Farmers” tagline. The blind embossed Divine roundel features two interlocked hands encircled by the promise that ‘Every bar directly improves the lives of farmers’ – a core claim for this ethical brand.

The handcrafted illustrations bring the key ingredients from each of the nostalgic desserts to life – the cherry for Cherry & Almond Bakewell, a coffee bean for Tiramisu and a lemon for Lemon Cheesecake. All layering up the mouth-watering appeal, to create a design that is confident, tempting and contemporary – an irresistible alternative to the standard chocolate bar or run of the mill dessert.

The Divine Dessert Bars are now available through Amazon and Divine’s website, as well as Ocado and Oxfam.

“We really enjoyed the process of working with Butterfly Canon to bring our vision of the Dessert Bar range to life. Helping us to confidently stretch the brand design, they understood what makes Divine so special and their creative skills really captured the essence of ‘Do Dessert Differently,’ turning it into a reality that’s as visually stunning as it is delicious. They nailed it!” Sophie Loveday-Davies, Marketing Director, Divine Chocolate
