Guinness, one of the world’s best-loved and most distinctive beers, is calling on revellers around the world to celebrate this St Patrick’s weekend in style and ‘Paint the Town Black’.
This year, Guinness will be marking St Patrick’s weekend in their trademark way. With ‘Paint the Town Black’-inspired celebrations taking place around the globe – fans are in for an unforgettable night out with good friends and, of course, a pint of the black stuff.
To kick off the festivities, fans can invite their friends to celebrate St Patrick’s weekend with them at their favourite local pub by creating their own personalised ‘Paint the Town Black’ film invitation.
Combining beautiful cinematography, Facebook and the magic of Google Maps, the video invitation will cast Guinness fans in the starring role of an epic film trailer about a great Guinness-inspired night out.
Set in a local pub and narrated with a blockbuster voiceover, the story of a completely unique celebration slowly unfolds – featuring the user themselves. As black paint inexplicably begins to drip from the ceiling, the tension builds, and it’s clear that something special is set to happen.
With unexpected bursts of black paint and exploding crisp packets the final video becomes an invitation to friends to make sure they don’t miss out on the fun, and start making their plans for St Patrick’s weekend.
During St Patrick’s weekend itself, Guinness is also inviting fans to capture their own celebrations with the classic ‘picture of my pint’ image and upload their photos to an online Guinness photo app (www.StPatsphoto.com).
All those who upload a picture stand in line to win the trip of a lifetime – an all expenses, bespoke trip to Dublin with their closest mates to celebrate The Gathering 2013, an exciting year-long celebration of Ireland, and its people.
Oliver Loomes, Guinness Global Brand Director comments, “St Patrick’s Day is about having a fantastic night out with friends, no matter where you are in the world. And this year, we want people around the globe to come together and Paint the Town Black with us, to celebrate this much-loved holiday in style.”
“We’re having a great time here at Guinness headquarters, creating as many different ways to celebrate the day as possible, so keep an eye out as more news is announced in the count down to the St Patrick’s weekend,” added Oliver.
