Immersing guests into “Something out of the ordinary,” Benihana Glasgow offers a modern interpretation of the iconic brand with a fresh new interior envisioned by award winning studio DesignLSM.
The design narrative draws inspiration from the legacy of founder Hiraoki ‘Rocky’ Aoki. Subversive visual cues create a spectacularly unique dining environment whilst reflecting the true ethos and energy of the brand.
A minimal palette of polished plaster, pale oak and (Shou Sugi ban) charred timber paired with bold tones of red and black set a warm and inviting ambience throughout the restaurant. With playful elements of vibrancy projected through mesmerising feature floor tiles and Japanese manga inspired illustrations that capture the colourful persona of Rocky.
The centralised bespoke dining structure complete with five live cooking stations provides the ‘culinary heart’ to the space, offering the exciting and entertaining teppanyaki experience that the brand is famed for.
Richard Mackay, Managing Director, Benihana comments; “As we celebrate 55 years of excellence since our founder opened the doors of Benihana, it seems poignant for us to be launching our Glasgow restaurant as part of the group’s planned expansion, that echoes the cues of the original concept within an evolved, more mature design. We are excited to receive guests as they experience the fast-paced performances and flame raising skills by their own personal chef, creating an entertaining teppanyaki dining experience.”
The restaurant is set to open its doors in early February.
