Great British Chefs & Tesco Launch New Kids Cooking App for Christmas

Marcus’s+mince+pies+-+MARCUS+WAREncourage your kids to conjure up some tasty winter treats from the new free Cooking with Kids Christmas App from Great British Chefs, the award-winning recipe site, and Tesco, launching in mid-November.

With a total of 105 exciting Christmas and Winter recipes, all created by Britain’s finest chefs, the app is designed to give parents and their children inspiration and expert advice to help them have fun cooking together.

Following on from the original award-winning Great British Chefs/Tesco Kids App, this one aims to help children be more confident in the kitchen ahead of Christmas, encouraging them to combine new flavours and ingredients, follow recipes, understand cooking processes and enjoy creating meals for all the family.

The new recipe collection offers a balance of healthy meals, savoury and sweet treats, as well as a selection of vegetarian recipes.

Each recipe is explained with clear steps, highlighting where kids can get involved, plus there are plenty of easy-to-follow kid-friendly videos demonstrating some of the basic techniques such as plaiting bread and working with filo pastry. The app even has voice control functionality so parents and kids can cook without touching their iPad or iPhone.

Kids love helping out in the kitchen. The Cooking with Kids Christmas app shows how they can lend a hand in cooking delicious dinners, from Galton Blackiston’s Snowed under Salmon to Lisa Allen’s Reindeer in Blankets. Plus there’s some great ideas of what to do with leftovers as well as extended ‘project’ recipes which require more time and effort such as Marcello Tully’s Glittering Meringue Forest or Andrew Mackenzie’s Christmas Safari Park, which will keep the kids entertained for hours.

Each recipe is simple and fun enough for kids to get stuck into and mucky with!

Marcus Wareing, chef and owner of The Gilbert Scott as well as his flagship two Michelin-star restaurant, Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley, said “Christmas is a great time to get children involved in the kitchen as they are excited about the festive period. This visually inspiring app gives children the chance to learn and practise a whole range of skills as well as providing hours of cooking that can be enjoyed by the whole family.”
