Pernod Ricard Aims to Make Christmas Hosting Easier with Cocktail Chatbot

s3-news-tmp-111981-cocktails-default-1280Pernod Ricard is catering to consumers’ predilection for being accomodating hosts over the Christmas period with a chatbot bartender that will help drinkers create cocktails from home.

The Cocktail Coach offers an array of helpful tools such as recipes, facts and mixing instructions for consumers looking to get creative with their drinks when hosting throughout the festive period.

In addition to recommending cocktails based on taste preferences, type and size of event, the chatbot will also direct users to online supermarket Ocado where they can purchase the ingredients.

The idea behind the Cocktail Coach stems from Pernod Ricard’s own research which found that over a third of UK consumers have made cocktails at home in the past year.

Using this insight, the drinks company tasked London creative technology agency +rehabstudio, with creating a chatbot to capitalise on the tendency for people to have friends and family round during Christmas and the inclination to indulge.

Patrick Venning, marketing director of Pernod Ricard UK, said: “A cocktail chatbot was the obvious choice for us this Christmas as we are always looking to find new and innovative ways to shape the nation’s drinking experience. Although nothing can replace the skill and expertise a physical bartender can offer, the Cocktail Coach has been created to try and bring this experience a little closer to home.”

The Cocktail Coach will run throughout the festive period and will be hosted on the World’s Best Bars Facebook page.

The stunt is part of the French company’s push to come up with innovative uses of technology to drive its marketing and gain a greater understanding of consumer behaviour.
