McDonald’s UK launched a campaign to promote Mocha, a new speciality coffee and the latest addition to its McCafé premium beverage and sweet snacking range.
The TV commercial, created by Leo Burnett, introduces the viewer to a variety of people experiencing those moments in everyday life when they just need a coffee: whether it’s taking a break from the office workload or getting over a break-up, the ad shows that ‘whenever you need a coffee, there’s always one for you at McDonald’s’.
Supporting this theme are two outdoor executions. The first introduces the new Mocha, while the second showcases the range of high-quality coffees available at McDonald’s. These executions combine product imagery of the McDonald’s coffee range with headlines hand-chalked onto café-style blackboards to highlight its premium quality.
The TV and outdoor campaigns were created by Will Thacker and Blake Waters. The creative directors were Tony Malcolm and Guy Moore, and the ECD was Justin Tindall. Ben Dempsey and Joe Dempsey at Knucklehead directed the TV commercial, while the outdoor campaign was photographed by Jason Lowe and illustrated by Alison Carmichael.
Mocha is a permanent addition to the McDonald’s menu and is now available throughout its 1,200 UK restaurants.
