Moon River, the classic Henry Mancini ballad written for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, is featured again by Mars Chocolate’s Galaxy brand, but with a modern twist for its new Duet variation.
The first ad for Duet broke on September 13, and will run for four weeks as the first part of an integrated through the line campaign created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.
It features a pair of young musicians, Chanele McGuinness and Bxnjamin, performing a duet of Moon River in a recording studio. The pair demonstrate their contrasting styles: Chanele sings a soft melody while Bxnjamin weaves in a rap.
Moon River was previously featured in Galaxy’s 2013 ad which used CGI technology to feature the late Audrey Hepburn, the star of the movie adaptation of Breakfast At Tiffany’s.
The new 20-second spot for Duet was created by AMV BBDO’s Michael Durban and Tony Strong, under creative directors Nick Hilley and Nadja Lossgott. Ed St Giles directed the ad out of The Sweetshop.
Galaxy is Mars’s biggest confectionary brand in the UK, where it is also the most advertised chocolate brand. Mars is spending £12 million on its media requirements, with TV ads spread across 35 weeks this year.
