Sports Broadcaster Drew Morphett Lends Voice to Coopers Australian Open Radio Work

Legendary Australian sports broadcaster, Drew Morphett has lent his unmistakable voice to a new radio campaign via KWP! and Eardrum, leveraging Coopers Brewery’s sponsorship of the Australian Open.

Morphett is well-known for commentating everything from tennis, football and cricket to golf, cycling and the Olympic Games, so he was the perfect choice for this campaign, which parodies inspirational, historical sports promos.

Corey Swaffer, CD, KWP! said: “This sponsorship means you will now be able to enjoy an Australian beer at the Australian Open. It seems obvious but it has been a long time since tennis and beer fans have been able to do that.” He added, “These spots shine a light on Coopers’ Australian made and Australian owned credentials in a relevant way that brings these two iconic Australian brands together.”

Cam Price, sales and marketing director, Coopers said: “We are very excited that one of Australia’s premier sporting events, which has such broad and diverse appeal, will now be sponsored by a beer company that is still Australian owned and family run.”

Craig Tiley, Tennis Australia CEO and Australian Open Tournament director added: “We’re delighted to welcome Coopers, an iconic and much-loved Australian brand, to the Australian Open family. The Australian Open is not just about world class tennis, it’s a fantastic social event that attracts hundreds of thousands of fans to Melbourne Park each year. It’s a highlight of the summer and Coopers is a great match for the relaxed Aussie atmosphere our fans love.”

The radio campaign is running in conjunction with large format outdoor, which is appearing nationally in Australia.
